Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Agile experience preferred.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:


As a systems engineer for Progeny Systems, you'll be a member of a cross functional team responsible for the design and development of submarine (VA Class, Columbia Class, and SSN(X)) acoustic systems. You will directly contribute to the technical success of our programs through hands-on technical contributions of an engineering team advancing the GDMS technical vision, building next generation system components, and fostering innovation. Candidates will have demonstrated recent, relevant technical contributions to previous system developments.

Duties and Tasks:

  • Participates in requirements analysis, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, trade studies, systems integration and test (verification).
  • Performs interface definition studies of system components and products.
  • Supports the generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle.
  • Develops and evaluates system, network, and information systems to ensure designs meet applicable governmental security specifications.
  • Identifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses.
  • Influences the shaping of future product designs while contributing to development team environment.
  • Receives detailed instructions from immediate supervisor.
  • Generally, works within an identified work group.
  • Some contact with Deputy Program Manager Engineering (DPME) and other professionals within the Engineering department.
  • Travel may be required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of the systems engineering concepts, principles, theories, and process.
  • Good ability to grasp and apply new information quickly.
  • Good ability to handle more complex assignments as experience progresses.
  • Shows initiative on assignments, and professionally executes projects with little direction.
  • Good awareness of project technical objectives.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and other System Architecture applications.
  • Applies company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues.
  • Builds stable working relationships internally.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills.
  • Creative thinker with interest if future innovations.
  • Good ability to clearly recognize and report information relevant to sound systems engineering design

Workplace Options:

This position is ON-SITE in Manassas, VA.

A Hybrid work schedule may be available but will require a minimum of 3 day's per week on-site.


Target salary range: USD $74,050.40/Yr. - USD $82,149.60/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
