Requisition Summary

This position will be responsible for engineering design, development, and production support of Peterbilt models 520 and 220 and Kenworth K270/K370 within the Low Cab Forward Team at Peterbilt Division Headquarters in Denton, Texas.

This position constantly interacts with the PACCAR Mexico design team and production facility in Mexicali, Mexico.

Duties involve working on new development programs, employing innovative skills to evolve ideas from concepts to implementation,providing engineering assistance,assembly/system design, problem resolution, training, and other engineering duties supporting various aspects of expedited programs.Additional tasks include completing six sigma documentation in assigned phases of the project and applying standard engineering techniques with minimal supervision, occasionally requiring independent evaluation.

The hiring level for this position will be dependent upon education and experience.

Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Identify and initiate designs of a complex nature and conduct necessary research incidental to design.
  • Complete design projects through the processes of planning, concept development, calculation, and design analysis, design, testing, evaluation, and implementation.
  • Handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Manage supplier activities related to the design and manufacture of components.
  • Apply knowledge of stress analysis and FEA.
  • Apply knowledge of various materials and manufacturing processes for components used in vehicle interiors.
  • Apply knowledge and skills in Creo and Windchill functionality.
Job Functions/Responsibilities Cont'd
  • Apply knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing principles.
  • Coordinate and complete projects and design efforts with other engineering groups and departments within the company.
  • Prepare engineering activity status reports and other detailed reporting as directed.
  • Identify, prioritize, and coordinate the resolution of production, production control, and Quality Assurance issues as appropriate.
  • Apply a proactive approach to defining issues and reaching early resolution and consensus.
  • Demonstrate professional and successful communication skills (verbal/written) with strong, effective interpersonal abilities.
  • Act in a professional manner in all contacts with external and internal customers.
  • Travel may be required up to 15%.
Qualifications/Skills
  • Proficiency with CAD software required; experience with Creo Parametric and Windchill desired.
  • Industry-related background in the design and specification of automotive systems, product development, and new product implementation desired.
  • Proficiency in the use of Design for Six Sigma tools is desired.
  • Professional Engineering license beneficial.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is beneficial.
Education

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
