Position Description:

SI is seeking a Senior Research Assistant to support projects in the Evaluation, Research & Analytics (ERA) Division. The Senior Research Assistant reports to Research Managers on individual projects and a Research Manager in the ERA Division as their direct supervisor.

Depending on the candidate's experience level and qualifications, this vacancy can be a Research Assistant. To qualify for this level of position, candidates must have a minimum of relevant Bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities:

Administrative:

  • Provide general administrative support to project teams including drafting contracts, processing invoices, reconciling expenditures, and arranging travel for team members.
  • Schedule meetings and take notes during presentations and/or trainings.
  • Format and copy edit documents and reports.
  • Support budget monitoring and client financial reporting in collaboration with finance department and project teams.

Technical:

While this position will be primarily administrative, the Research Assistant may have the opportunity to contribute to technical tasks based on their ability and the needs of their projects. These technical tasks may include:

  • Conducting desk research.
  • Assisting in the development and programming of survey instruments.
  • Supporting data quality monitoring.
  • Managing and cleaning quantitative datasets.
  • Conducting qualitative coding.
  • Supporting basic quantitative or qualitative analysis and writing.
  • Prior academic or professional experience in these technical areas is helpful though not required for this role.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, International Development, Development Economics, Data Science, Public Policy, or other relevant field.
  • One year of relevant professional work experience in research and/or evaluation.
  • Strong task and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize between tasks and communicate effectively across project teams while meeting deadlines.
  • Proactive and willing to learn in a collaborative team environment.
  • Exposure to research methods or monitoring and evaluation, either through formal or informal coursework, internships, or previous work experience.
  • A commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive work and learning environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting government contracts (with USAID, MCC, State and other development agencies).
  • Working proficiency in a foreign language, especially Spanish or French.

Pay Range Details
$48,070.00 - $62,000.00 Annually

This base salary range applies to Assistant and Senior Assistant positions at Social Impact.

The range displayed does not include bonuses, overtime, compensation time, or other similar additions to base salaries. SI's offer is based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to years of experience, education level, market-based compensation analysis, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
