Job Description

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

 
  1. Must have bachelor’s degree in human resource (HR) Management, Business Management, related field
  2. Must have working knowledge of Labor and Employment law.
  3. Outstanding interpersonal, negotiating, and conflict resolution abilities.
  4. Excellent attention to detail and organization skills.
  5. Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  6. Must have working knowledge in maintaining compliance with Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)
  7. Proficient with Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and payroll software, knowledge of Paychex Flex preferred.
  8. Must be able to receive clearance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE).
  9. Must possess a valid driver's license and vehicle.
 

JOB DUTIES:

 
  1. Manage and oversee activities relating to staffing, employee education and training, management development, labor relations, affirmative action, and benefits and salary administration.
  2. Provide consultative support in the areas of human resources for consistent and appropriate application of company policies and procedures.
  3. Plan, monitor, and appraise HR activities by scheduling management conferences, resolving employee grievances, training managers in how to coach and discipline, and counseling employees and supervisors.
  4. Champion the onboarding process by ensuring that it's high-quality and up to date and provide clarity and connection for employees so their roles serve the overall business vision.
  5. Build strong relationships with external suppliers, fostering trust and promoting collaboration.
  6. Handle confidential matters with discretion.
  7. Managing and improving as needed the performance management process for all employees.
  8. Ensure all records are maintained, entering all information into HRIS, and ensuring all files are kept up to date.
  9. Coordinate employee benefits meetings and annual Open Enrollment scheduling meetings for all employees.
  10. Searching for gaps in training content and materials that need updating to generate higher productivity and safety among staff.
  11. Researching new training courses and materials that can enhance our training procedures while providing value to employees.
  12. Identifying future training needs and creating a curriculum to facilitate that training.
  13. Leading programs to assist employees with transitions due to technological changes, and/or promotions.
  14. Communicating with management, trainers, and team members to ensure that all needs are met.
  15. Setting up executive or leadership development programs for lower-level employees
  16. Conducting orientation programs and arranging on-the-job training for new hires
  17. Resolving any specific problems and tailoring training programs as necessary
  18. Ensure all terminations of employment are processed correctly and notify all appropriate outside parties (i.e, Profit Sharing, ATF, Security, etc.).
  19. Ensure all legal postings are up to date for VA and NY facilities.
  20. Ensure yearly required EEO-1 and VETS-4212 reports are filed with appropriate branch of Government.
  21. Ensure employee requests for Family and Medical Leave and Short-Term Disability and all associated documentation are processed in a timely manner.
  22. File all Workers Compensation claims for plant and maintain all OSHA records regarding injuries.
  23. Perform all other duties as required by management.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 
  1. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, or move throughout the work area for 8 to 12 hours per shift.
  2. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  3. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
