Overview

The Vermont Department of Labor posting is seeking a Program Technician II to work in the Unemployment Insurance Quality Control Unit. The Program Technician provides support to the Quality Control Unit by assisting in the administration of quality control review programs, which includes clerical support, assisting in other investigators audit assignments, conducting assigned audit assignments and other support work as directed by the Quality Control Unit Supervisor.


The unit performs Benefit Accuracy Measurement audits which review random samples of paid and denied claims for UI benefits. These BAM reviews are comprehensive comparative audits which examine all aspects of the claim to ensure accuracy of payment and denials, and the results are instrumental in providing important information to the US DOL and the Vermont DOL on UI program accuracy.


BAM audits require strong file management, organization, and self-planning skills. If you have any auditing, paralegal, bookkeeping/payroll experience and/or any experience in benefits program administration, this could be a great fit for you! Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (or comparable) is strong plus!

It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed predominately in an office setting. Private means of travel should be available for occasional travel when appropriate. Incumbents must be adaptable and able to work within tight time limits and under considerable stress. Some evening and weekend duty may be necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years or more of full-time college coursework OR an associate's degree or higher AND two (2) years or more of experience at or above a technical level in program administration (such as administering components of a licensing and certification program, or records management).

OR

High School diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years or more of experience at or above a technical level in program administration (such as administering components of a licensing and certification program, or records management).

OR

One (1) year or more of experience as a Program Technician I with the State of Vermont.
