We're actively seeking a talented Sr Director to join our Structured Product Credit Team in Newport Beach, CA (hybrid work schedule).

As a Structured Product Credit Analyst Sr Director you'll move Pacific Life and your career forward by working in conjunction with other members of the structured product Investment team to analyze and initiate buy/sell/hold recommendations on various structured products, including asset backed securities (ABS), commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS), and residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS).This position is responsible for developing sector views and conducting timely issue-specific credit reviews with buy/sell/hold recommendations.

You will fill a new role on the Structured Product Credit Team, which currently consists of three investment professionals within the broader Pacific Life Investments department. The research group's investment analysis process includes a combination of fundamental and quantitative analysis of deal structures and collateral in the context of relevant market data, trends, and economic forecasts. Your colleagues will include seasoned CMBS/ABS/RMBS credit analysis, and you will interact with portfolio managers, as well as your credit counterparts in the public and private corporate bond teams.


How you'll help us move forward:

  • Work as part of the securitized research group to help integrate fundamental, quantitative, and statistical analysis to assess and document the creditworthiness of structured product collateral pools, and identify the relative value/risk of various tranche positions and deal structures through scenario analysis
  • Present timely deal reviews, investment recommendations and relevant bond market activity to the portfolio management team
  • Work in partnership with industry specialists across the corporate credit teams
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external parties, including sell-side analysts, salespeople and rating agencies
  • Leverage quantitative skills to manage and evaluate large scale data sets as well as servicer and trustee reports as part of the monthly surveillance process
  • Perform ad hoc projects as necessary


The experience you bring:

  • 10+ years investment research experience and fundamental credit analysis, preferably in structured products, and a 4-year degree or 8+ years of investment research experience and an MBA
  • Credit experience in one or more structured product areas, including esoteric ABS sectors, such as solar, whole business securitizations, timeshares, containers, data centers, etc.
  • Demonstrated quantitative skills, as well as familiarity with Bloomberg and Intex
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple assignments simultaneously with high attention to detail
  • Possession of strong communication, presentation and writing skills

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$193,950.00 - $237,050.00
