We are seeking a Mill Helper to work in our Monroe, NC facility. In this position you are part of a skilled team that will load and operate the rolling mill to process materials, ensuring our customers' needs are met. As a Mill Helper you will be responsible for assisting the team by loading the materials into the mill, using tongs to pull the materials back and forth, and unloading the mill. This position requires attention to detail, teamwork, and willingness to learn. A successful candidate must also have time management skills and the ability to read measuring devices.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist in the locating and loading of material into furnace. Discharge material from furnace to Rolling Mill to maintain a standard production rate
  • Ensure all material loaded into the furnace is removed prior to reloading to prevent alloy mix
  • Assist in roll changes, disassembling of stands, changing of rolls, and reassembling of stands following standard procedures.
  • Use hand and power tools
  • Weigh the material once finished
  • Wrap finished materials using wire banding and tagging the materials with their appropriate labels
  • Operate overhead crane and forklift to move finished materials to designated areas
  • Maintain logs and records on an Excel spreadsheet
  • Participate in safety programs
  • Participate in Incident Investigation to determine Root Cause using Problem Solving Skills.
  • Participate in Standard Work events on processes to reduce cycle time and create a safer work area
  • Must be able to maintain IME certification by fulfilling all requirements.
  • Follow all company and equipment safety guidelines

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year of manufacturing experience

Skills

  • Ability to read and use a tape measure
  • Ability to work in a team setting
  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic math skills including fractions and decimals
