Overview

VTG is seeking a Technical Engineer, to work in our Virginia Beach office location.


What will you do?

This role requires a deep understanding of project management principles and the ability to effectively manage milestones and action plans within the defense sector. The ideal candidate will be experienced in Microsoft Project Professional (MPP), proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and familiar with NAVSEA standards.
- Project Planning and Monitoring:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules, including all phases of project execution.
- Utilize Microsoft Project Professional (MPP) and Excel to manage schedules, resources, and project timelines.
- Create Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and link associated tasks and milestones to ensure coherent project tracking.
- Interpret technical drawings and schematics to extract relevant data concerning equipment and cabling installations and removals.
- Quantify materials such as lengths and types of cables and equipment specifications.
- Input all extracted data into Excel to maintain and update project databases regularly.
- Using Excel: Generate detailed reports, charts, and data extracts to support project analysis and decision-making.
- Ensure all project activities and documentation comply with NAVSEA standards and industry best practices.
- Evaluate Performance Work Statements (PWS) to align project objectives with contractual obligation.
- Oversee the allocation and management of resources to ensure project milestones are completed within timelines and budgets.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate resource bottlenecks and streamline project execution.


Do you have what it takes?

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field.

- 5+ years experience in ship-repair industry
- Proven experience in project management, specifically using Microsoft Project Professional (MPP).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with strong capabilities in data analysis and report generation.
- Experience in creating and managing Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and familiar with linking tasks.
- Knowledge of NAVSEA standards and requirements.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics for data extraction and analysis.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to evaluate Performance Work Statements (PWS).
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
