SUMMARY:

The Accountant II is responsible for preparing financial reports and conducting financial analysis. The successful candidate will collect, analyze, and summarize financial trends within the balance sheet, income statement, and other financial-related data. This position also includes operational accounting support such as reconciling bank statements, recording financial data, and financial reporting, as well as providing technical services to ensure the commitments of the Bank are met and properly recorded in the financial records.


Job Duties:

  • Support the Company's accounting and financial reporting process for various users, including but not limited to executive management, auditors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Support the daily operational accounting processes that may include investment security accounting, loan accounting, deposit accounting, allowance for credit loss, corporate taxes, and other accounts.
  • Support escheatment activities.
  • Review general ledger accounts and support reconciliation activities.
  • Support the production of monthly financial reports and KPIs, forecasts, and variance analyses.
  • Support the calculation of regulatory capital figures and production of regulatory filings (e.g., Call Report, etc.).
  • Analyze monthly results, communicate issues, research variances, identify trends and recommend actions to management as needed.
  • Prepare detailed accounting, statistical, and narrative financial statements or reports requiring analysis and interpretation.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to existing processes.
  • Complete ongoing courses to maintain required continuing education requirements.






Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or relevant discipline- required.
  • 3-5 years of recent progressively responsible accounting/finance experience - banking industry experience- preferred but not required.
  • Experience with core banking systems and report writing software - preferred but not required
  • Unquestionable integrity in handling sensitive and confidential information required.
  • Provide an exceptional level of quality service for internal/external customers; respond to customers' needs, questions, and concerns in an accurate, effective, and timely manner.
  • Strong listening, verbal, written, and telephone etiquette business communication skills, including effective questioning strategies and presentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and persuasively in a variety of settings, formats, and audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively with a team.
  • Quantitative and analytical skills to analyze statistical information, demonstrating proficiency in performing data analysis to support business decisions through financial modeling, graphical presentation, and analytical writing.
  • Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, organizational, data review, and time management skills, with the ability to accurately manage multiple assignments, goals, and reporting requests, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Resourceful, self-motivated, and intellectually curious
  • Advanced use of Microsoft Excel (to include pivot tables and macros), with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly.

Increased levels of responsibility based on experience include the following requirements:

Level III:5+ years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience
