DevOps & SRE Team

The DevOps & SRE team is responsible for helping other technology teams on their automation journey. We embrace many approaches and technologies to speed up the delivery and operations of our Data Centers. From Zero-Touch provisioning of network equipment to the deployment of applications on containerization platforms, we apply our software and operation industry expertise everywhere we can. We question the status-quo and are not afraid to suggest new ways to do things. Individual contributors are encouraged to speak up, propose new insights and take an active role in the definition of our roadmap.

Position Overview

Vantage is looking for a skilled, diligent DevOps engineer to support our cloud-based environment and deploy automation in various parts of our business! As part of a distributed team, you will work with a variety of teams, including Software Development, Infrastructure, Data Engineering to package, deploy and run applications on our Kubernetes environment. You will use Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools to automate the configuration of servers. You will look for ways to improve the way we do things, ensure availability of platforms, and pick up tickets that are assigned to the team.

Essential Job Functions

• Develop and maintain Helm charts, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-As-Code

• Lead the operations and evolutions of our applications hosting platform, staying up to date with industry trends and ensuring strong availability and security.

• Implement automation wherever possible on cloud & on-premises infrastructure, application deployment & configuration, etc.

Duties

• Ensure the availability, security and performance of Vantage applications running in Kubernetes.

• Collaborate with software developers to package, run and maintain applications in a variety of environment.

• Review Pull Requests, supervising alerts, tickets and offer timely action on time-sensitive events.

• Coordinate maintenances and changes with impacted customers.

• Build Helm Charts, Flux CD deployment configuration files, Terraform templates and CI/CD pipelines to support deployment of applications.

• Stay informed with the latest trends, experiment new tools and techniques and deploy them if they could benefit our platform.

• Challenge the existing platform and processes, looking for ways to improve speed, reliability, and security of our environment.

• Work proactively, assigning tasks to yourself and taking initiatives.

• Mentor team members on your area of expertise, sharing what you know. You will also document the platform and write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Job Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience required.

• 5 years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering or Site Reliability Engineering required, 5 to 10 years preferred.

• Skilled at using and managing Docker and Kubernetes to package, deploy and run applications.

• Significant experience with the GitOps approach, using FluxCD or ArgoCD.

• Can write, debug, improve CI/CD pipelines in platforms like Jenkins and GitHub actions.

• Proven understanding of at least one configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible is required.

• Proficient with Microsoft Azure Cloud and Terraform/OpenTofu.

• Solid background using GNU/Linux, feels at home in the terminal.

• Ability to write scripts in at least one scripting language such as *sh, PowerShell or Python.

• Experienced with network design and troubleshooting. Including but not limited to VLANs, VPNs, route tables.

• Excellent interpersonal skills are crucial, with a strong capacity to explain technical concepts to non-technical collaborators. Writing and keep up-to-date documentation is a crucial part of the duties.
