Position Highlights Spectrum+ is a collaboration between SIROW, the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation, and El Rio. The project aims to provide HIV prevention and education services and to expand and enhance co-occurring disorder screening, referral to treatment, and outreach and pretreatment services for 380 LGBTQ+ youth and young adults ages 12-24, primarily Latinx, African American and Native American, who are at high risk for contracting HIV. Program participants will include both Spanish- and English-speaking youth and young adults.

The primary purpose of this position is to deliver an HIV prevention curriculum to LGBTQ+ youth of color enrolled in the Spectrum+ project. Spectrum+ provides HIV prevention and education services and substance use and co-occurring disorder screening, referral to treatment, and outreach and pretreatment services to 380 LGBTQ+ youth and young adults of color ages 12 to 24 in the Tucson and Phoenix areas.

Duties & Responsibilities

All positions are expected to meet the agency standards for attendance and punctuality, positive interactions with others, effective work habits, knowledge and skills, judgment and ethics. The specific expectations and essential duties of this position include:
Provide the SIROW Health Education for Youth (SIROW HEY) and the SIROW Sexual Health Education-Queer (SIROW SHE-Q) curriculums and workshops to Spectrum+ service population.
Assist with updating and adapting curriculum presentations to accommodate a diverse range of project participants.
Contribute to developing presentations for educational workshops, outreach events, and conferences.
Participate in ongoing training to enhance curriculum facilitation skills and expand knowledge.
Communicate with agencies, schools, collaborators, and relevant entities to coordinate Spectrum+ HIV prevention curriculum and other service delivery.
Maintain communication with participants to support curriculum completion and follow-up.
Facilitate youth participants' access to other Spectrum+ services.
Contribute to Spectrum + outreach efforts.
Contribute to Spectrum+ social media presence.
Assist with translation of materials into Spanish language.
Cross-train on data collection protocols and assist data collection as needed.
Assist Spectrum+ team members with other aspects of program delivery as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

Scheduling flexibility and travel:

Some flexibility in scheduling is available to meet employee needs, as long as program needs are still being adequately addressed. Position may require extensive travel between Pima and Maricopa County.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to travel within and out of state
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Proficiency with developing social media content and navigating social media platforms
  • Knowledge of HIV prevention and sexual health education
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience; AND one year of relevant work experience; OR any combination of experience, training and/or education.
  • Eligible to receive and maintain state fingerprint clearance.
  • Position requires regular weekday hours and some evenings or weekends.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy. The successful candidate must be able to provide their own transportation to various off-site locations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual English-Spanish.
  • Experience working with diverse communities including LGBTQ+, communities of color, and youth.
  • Experience delivering educational curriculums and ability to do so both in-person and virtually.
