Job Title: Manager, Engineering

Location: Richmond, VA (Chester, VA)

What we are looking for:

This position is responsible for New Product Development (NPD) of refrigerated merchandisers and Design to Value (DTV) cost reduction efforts on the existing product lines and managing people.

What you will be responsible for in this role:

  • Long-range planning for product families/systems.
  • New product architect.
  • Owns feature set or product family design.
  • Responsible for the direction of their team's work.
  • Ability to address the technical risk for multiple projects.
  • Define/coordinates specs for system or product family.
  • Consults the product management, production, and marketing staff to define the requirements and procedures for a project.
  • Works to align organizational structure and resources to deliver business needs.
  • Uses instinct and data to accurately assess business situations and industry trends; makes timely, appropriate decisions and implements appropriate plans while living the Dover Values.
  • Ability to execute the short-term strategic plan and align the resource level and adjust accordingly.
  • Ability to manage budget, resources, and departmental financials/cost centers.
  • Collaborates with the leaders of Dover India Innovation Center (DIIC), Sourcing, Inside Sales, Engineering, Field Technicians, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production on projects.
  • Ensures support and compliance of the NPD Stage Gate engineering requirements such as Concepts development and intellectual property, Design verification plan including DFMEA and modeling, Prototype and pilot builds, Product testing, Design reviews Engineering CAD models, drawings, and bill of materials etc.
  • Manufacturing process capability assessment to review and define critical design parameters, Drive transformation activities cross-regional including lean product development, culture and continuous improvement, ensure that robust product design principles are used during project development (design of experiments, components of variation, reliability testing, OpEx tools application)

What are the basic qualifications?

  • BS in Engineering
  • 7+ years minimum experience in managing experienced professionals and designing industrial products.

What are the preferred qualifications?

  • MS preferred; PE preferred.
  • 6 years' experience and a master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience
  • Six sigma Certification, Value engineering certification, and Reliability certification will be added advantages
