MUST: Experienced Principal Accountant
Must be CPA certified and have an active CPA license to practice in Virginia 10+ years of experience in public accounting Possess a high level of competence in their area of specialty and complies with relevant statutory and professional standards Track record of effectively managing work in progress (WIP,) billing, and accounts receivable Ability to maintain admirable realization and utilization rate for client base and personal billings Ability to understand and articulate the business model, including administrative, client and staff policies and processes Able to proactively generate innovative solutions to client challenges High degree of technical competency in broad range of individual and business tax returns - corporate and pass through entity work Knowledge of accounting and financial software Ability to explain complex accounting data in a simple way Ability to analyze complex systems Bachelor's degree in accounting required
DUTIES: Achieves results (additional clients and/or client billings) from business development efforts Develops, leads and participates in initiatives to recruit talented people Spearheads or supports development of profitable new service lines Plans and executes engagements such that assignments are carried out properly and exceed client expectations Understands and articulates the business model, including administrative, client and staff policies and processes Adheres to and follows the policies and procedures as established for all team members of the Firm, including time entry, billing and collections, technology use and service methodologies Provides the Firm with any assigned or appointed "internal functions" in an effective and efficient manner Exercises financial accountability for the performance of a client base or service line Services a client billing base as engagement principal Creates personal billing production by service to clients (hours times billing rate invoices and collected) Demonstrates effective skills of managing work in progress (WIP,) billing, and accounts receivable Maintains admirable realization and utilization rate for client base and personal billings Provides client service opportunities for accounting staff on a consistent year round basis People Development, Teamwork and Leadership - Provides a challenging and supportive atmosphere for all staff and principals to achieve their career and financial goals Uses the appropriate resources to serve clients that are the best fir for the job and provides an opportunity for growth and development of the staff Participates in the Firm's mentoring and/or performance management programs by meeting with assigned staff and conducting performance reviews Commands respect within the Firm from the principals and staff, and within the community, including clients
