The Sr. Manager Engineering Coordination will have responsibility for developing Standards and Processes, manage the company's Capital and Expense approvals for our manufacturing locations. This role will have two direct reports; the first overseeing Talent development across the Maintenance and Engineering Team, Vendor and Contract management; second Project Engineer overseeing Corporate Campus Projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements and maintains engineering project management methodology, policies, and standards with collaboration and input from the engineering staff to ensure that facilities are compliant with internal standards and external regulations.

  • Directs and controls the execution of capital programs and projects at manufacturing facilities to improve performance in areas of cost, quality, service and safety and to implement capital projects in partnership with the Production Engineering Leadership (PEL).

  • Accountable for ensuring proper development and execution of capital projects for Corporate Campus

  • Accountable for supporting maintenance and engineering talent development initiatives.

  • Manages contracts and vendors that provide various equipment and services to Smithfield Foods.

  • Supports the development of strategic plans, goals and continuous improvement programs for the Department that continue to deliver the highest value to the company.

  • Drives sharing best practices across business units and globally.

  • Partners with Smithfield Engineering Leadership Team to help create and articulate the strategic vision and direction for the engineering organization and the overall technical organization.

  • Works closely with the PEL in developing support requirements, audit plans, capability building plans and anything else required for proper capital plan development and project execution for the plants where the PEL has direct responsibility.

  • Works closely with other leadership groups within Smithfield in the identification of manufacturing technology opportunities and provides guidance as to their technical and economic feasibility.

  • Develops and promotes the execution of food and people safety programs to ensure best in class safe capital execution.

  • Provides leadership and direction to design, develop, and execute business objectives and successfully deliver innovative and competitive solutions on time.

  • Partners with Human Resources to deploy leadership development opportunities, driving performance management, building a diverse workforce, and introduction of advanced leadership concepts to build an engaged and high performing workforce.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in Engineering, Business or related field and 8+ years of experience in Engineering management; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 2+ years' experience in a position of leadership to include team development and management, required.

  • Prior experience as a Project Manager or similar role, required.

  • Experience leading multiple, complex, major capital investments, required.

  • Experience developing and implementing a capital project management methodology in a multi-plant environment preferred.

  • Ability to take broader roles

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Capable of communicating and expressing ideas clearly and concisely, in both written and oral formats.

  • High level of written and oral communication skills, organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability.

  • Ability to communicate technical ideas to a non-technical audience effectively.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word, and SAP.

  • Strong interpersonal, technical and presentation skills, required.

  • Knowledge of different pork products and the Meat Industry, preferred.

  • Must be able to travel a minimum of 50% of the time.

  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.

  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and guidance to employees throughout the organization, both direct and indirect, including project managers and engineers.

  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and assisting in providing appropriate resolutions.

Salary Range

$114,500.00 - $171,500.00
