Job Description

WANTED: An experienced Senior Application Developer to support the development and sustainment of a web-based applications for our Defense Health Agency customers.

As a Senior Application Developer, you will:

A week in the life of a Senior Application Developer:

  • Perform hands-on development work using .NET, Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS
  • Analyze, design, develop, code, integrate, test, add interface capabilities, and fix bugs for each sprint
  • Write queries to support data requests from the government
  • Use development tools for updating tasks and stories, check-in, and version control
  • Design solutions and collaborate with a team of highly skilled software developers and business analysts
  • Attend daily standup with development and technical team
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance analysts to ensure the software is functioning as required.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or closely related field
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and undergo a background check for Public Trust
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in information technology, including application program development
  • Hands-on experience with Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS
  • Hands-on experience with .NET 6 and ASP.NET Core
  • Familiarity with Visual Studio/Visual Studio Code
  • Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming concepts and ability to develop detailed application designs using industry best practices
  • Experience with unit testing, continuous integration, and best practices and tools such as SVN, Ant/Maven, HP ALM, Fortify and/or JaCoco
  • Thorough understanding and experience using relational databases, preferably Oracle and/or SQL (T-SQL)
  • Understanding and usage of Struts and J2EE technologies, such as JSP, Servlets, EJBs, and/or JPA
  • Experience working with cross-functional project teams using Agile or Scrum methodology
  • Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively in a remote work environment
  • Familiarity with Federal cybersecurity compliance work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with Blazor Web Assembly
  • Knowledge of 508 Compliance desired
  • Familiarity with Oracle BusinessObjects administration and use is a plus
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required security certifications, such as Security+
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to continuous improvement of people, processes, and tools
  • Experience working in Department of Defense Health IT is a plus

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $90,000 - 120,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
