Performance Profile: Lead UX Designer

Intellibridge seeks a Lead UX Designer to lead the design for a program that is part of our Homeland and National Security division. This pivotal role demands an understanding of user experience design principles, especially as they apply to large-scale, enterprise-level projects aimed at enhancing services and products. By prioritizing human-centered design, you will be directly involved in the development of intuitive, impactful, and ethical solutions that streamline and modernize government digital services. In this role, you will closely collaborate with stakeholders from the public sector, applying diverse UX methodologies to create seamless online and offline experiences that meet diverse user needs.

Your role transcends traditional digital spaces, focusing on the comprehensive user journey to ensure informed, accessible interactions within complex, policy-driven environments. This position combines your technical expertise with exceptional communication skills, as you will lead the research, ideation, and design processes essential to the project's success.

Key Objectives:

  1. Establish Trust and Collaborative Partnerships:
    1. Build and maintain trust with federal customers and other stakeholders, understanding their objectives to ensure the program aligns with broader business goals.
    2. Position Intellibridge as a reliable, expert partner in transforming government services through effective communication and collaboration.
    3. Foster a cooperative environment with team members and clients to facilitate shared success and innovation.
  2. Deepen Understanding of User Needs and Behaviors:
    1. Develop and implement user research strategies that address specific aspects of the user experience.
    2. Conduct comprehensive user engagement activities such as interviews, user research, and usability testing to gather actionable insights.
    3. Synthesize findings into clear, actionable documents like personas, journey maps, and service blueprints, guiding the program design strategy.
  3. Define and Refine the User Experience:
    1. Facilitate creative workshops to collaboratively explore and iterate on user interface designs and user journeys.
    2. Utilize tools like Sketch, Figma, or Adobe XD to create clear, well-organized wireframes and prototypes, defining the structure and behavior of the user interface.
    3. Work closely with program and project management to align design efforts with agile methods and processes.
  4. Evaluate and Enhance Customer Experience:
    1. Design and execute usability tests to measure the solution's performance against key user tasks and expectations.
    2. Lead activities like card sorting or tree testing to refine and validate the information architecture.
    3. Establish ongoing analytics and tracking goals to inform continuous improvement and prioritize future enhancements.
  5. Communicate Design Solutions Effectively:
    1. Develop detailed, annotated wireframes to clearly convey the intended functionality and behavior of UI elements to developers and stakeholders.
    2. Lead compelling presentations of your designs, articulating the rationale and expected impact on user experience and client objectives.
    3. Facilitate design critiques, welcoming feedback to refine solutions and ensure alignment with technical capabilities and project goals.
  6. Leadership and Team Development:
    1. Review and elevate the work of junior and mid-level UX designers, ensuring high standards and consistency.
    2. Efficiently manage multiple projects and deadlines, setting priorities to maintain focus on impactful activities.
    3. Act as a mentor and leader within the UX team, promoting skill development, innovation, and a positive work culture.
    4. Advocate for UX best practices, championing the value of design within Intellibridge and among clients.
    5. Deliver accountable, high-quality work, setting an example of excellence and reliability.
