Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Advanced Heart Failure Specialty Unit!

Shift: Full Time Night Shift

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is one of just five Level1 trauma centers in Virginia, home to the Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance and the region's first Magnet hospital and nationally ranked heart program at the Sentara Heart Hospital. The hospital sits on the Eastern Virginia Medical Campus which serves as the primary teaching institution. Sentara Norfolk General and the Heart Hospital offers Transplant Services: Heart, Kidney, and Pancreas. We are a Certified Stroke Center and the only Level 3 Epilepsy Center in the area.

The Sentara Heart Hospital,a 112-bed care facility, is #2 for Cardiology services and Heart Surgery in the State of Virginia and ranks #24 in the nation for best heart programs.

Department Overview:

*24 bed Specialty Unit that provides high acuity cardiac care to patients with severe heart failure, pre/post heart transplant, the Total Artificial Heart, and pulmonary hypertension.

*Work with high tech equipment such as mechanical circulatory support including ventricular assist devices (LVAD, BiVAD) and telemetry monitors.

*Environment relies on 24 hours consistent communication and intricate interdisciplinary teamwork skills.

*Nurses handle 3-4 patients on this unit based on acuity level.

As aRegistered Nursewith Sentara, you can excel in your career. There are many different specialties where you can perform and grow your nursing skills in areas of interest to you. This position's primary duties include assessing/admitting patients, rounding checks, giving medications, talking with family members, and being responsible for the overall care of your patients. Education: Diploma RN, associate degree RN, bachelor's degree RN, or master's degree RN.

All Direct Care RNs are required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.

RN License Virginia or Compact/Multi-State Eligible.
