Overview

SCCI is seeking an Engineering Technician to join our team. The successful candidate should be a highly skilled Manufacturing Technician and will work closely with engineers and other team members. In this position, you will maintain and operate additive manufacturing equipment, fabricate sheet metal components using waterjet and Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) press brake machines, interpret CAD models and engineering drawings, handle laser cutting and engraving tasks for gaskets and polymers, and inspect and assemble mechanical electronics enclosures. This position is located in Dahlgren, VA.

Travel within the United States of up to 5% can be expected.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain additive manufacturing equipment, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency
  • Fabricate sheet metal boxes and components using waterjet and (CNC) press brake machines, following engineering specifications and drawings
  • Interpret CAD models using SolidWorks software to prepare for fabrication processes
  • Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot issues and optimize manufacturing processes
  • Perform laser cutting and engraving tasks for gaskets, polymer components, and metal part marking with precision and accuracy
  • Conduct quality inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and standards
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols at all times
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new manufacturing techniques and procedures
  • Provide technical support and training to other team members as needed

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret Security Clearance
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in additive manufacturing and sheet metal fabrication
  • Must be proficient in operating and maintaining a waterjet and CNC press brake
  • Must have experience operating and maintaining additive manufacturing equipment
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and comprehend schematic diagrams and blueprints for application of advanced engineering drawings
  • Must have a strong understanding of CAD software, specifically SolidWorks
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings and specifications

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with laser cutting and engraving equipment preferred
  • Technical certification for waterjet, CNC press brake, and/or 3D printing
  • Bachelor degree in an engineering, or technical discipline in additive manufacturing
