Accounting Manager, Financial Services

Capital One's Financial Services (FS) Controllers team is seeking a highly motivated, talented, and collaborative professional to join our group as an Accounting Manager. The ideal candidate is passionate about bringing the future of Finance to life for our accounting associates and business partners. The FS Accounting team blends the disciplines of application support, application enhancements, and process innovation. The team is responsible for creating and sustaining business process automations, analytics, and reporting deliverables.

As an Accounting Manager, you will be in charge of Interest and Non-Interest Income analytics, various SEC and external reporting metrics, and efficiency identification within the Controllers valuestream. You will leverage your Finance and Accounting background and apply your strategic and analytical skills to address major Controllers challenges. You will do it all in a collaborative environment that values your insights, encourages you to take on new responsibilities, promotes continuous learning, and rewards innovation. We proactively communicate with our partners and leadership, and help shape priorities by analyzing data, gathering metrics, identifying pain points and rationalizing business processes.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the main point of contact and lead various work streams within the auto accounting close and consolidation process

  • Leverage problem solving and influencing skills to ensure consistent, well managed approach to control and job function execution

  • Build relationships and collaborate with both our local teams, and with multiple teams across the organization on various corporate initiatives

  • Determine areas for process optimization through independent data analysis or in response to partner and leadership requests.

  • Focus on continual growth in a wide variety of automation tools

  • Continually learn about new technologies as they emerge including how to apply them within the context of your role

  • Have excellent communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders at all levels across the company to manage, inform and influence outcomes

  • Present results, findings, risks and recommendations to Team leadership and Global Finance stakeholders

  • Provide accounting/financial services subject matter expertise on project implementation efforts, and to develop new automations of existing manual processes

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or military experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting, external financial reporting, audit, finance, or a combination

  • At least 1 year of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system experience

  • At least 1 year of experience using reconciliation systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 7 years of experience in accounting

  • At least 5 years of experience in financial services

  • At least 2 years of experience with Oracle PeopleSoft Financials, SAP, Workday Financials, or a combination

  • At least 1 year of experience with Fiserv Frontier reconciliation systems

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Master's Degree in Accounting

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) license or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
