Introduction

Loudoun County is actively seeking a dedicated Equity Specialist with a strong emphasis on training facilitation and development. As a key member of the Office of Equity and Inclusion within the Office of the County Administrator, you will take a lead role in shaping and implementing dynamic training programs to foster workplace equity.

Job Summary

Responsibilities:

  • Training Facilitation: Lead the development and delivery of comprehensive DEIA training programs for county staff, emphasizing equity principles, and promoting an inclusive work environment.
  • Collaborative Development: Work closely with the Chief Equity Officer, county leadership, and senior managers to integrate training into the overall equity strategic plan, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed on cutting-edge DEIA best practices and incorporate them into training modules to keep the curriculum current and impactful.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Utilize data analysis and interpretation skills to assess the effectiveness of training initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and making data-driven recommendations.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of strategic plans, specifically focusing on the integration of training initiatives to drive cultural and organizational change.
  • Project Management: Lead and support key initiatives related to the County's Equity Resolution, ensuring successful implementation and coordination of training programs.
  • Change Management: Work collaboratively with leadership and staff to navigate and manage change effectively, promoting a culture of inclusivity and equity.
  • Outcome/Impact Measurement: Develop and implement metrics to measure the impact of training programs on organizational culture, providing regular reports to county leadership.

  • Outcome/Impact Measurement: Ability to develop and implement metrics to measure the impact of training programs, providing actionable insights for improvement.
  • DEI Subject Matter Expertise: In-depth knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles, with the ability to apply them in a training and development context.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and accessible manner.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to effectively build relationships across differences and diverse communities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of cultural competence, inclusiveness and diversity issues, and program evaluation methodologies. Experience in curriculum development and facilitating diversity, equity, and inclusion professional development sessions. Ability to facilitate discussion around sensitive issues and analyze conflicts and facilitate resolutions. Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs. Character Skills such as growth / success mindset, self-awareness, situational awareness, emotional intelligence, cultural intelligence, adaptable, collaborative, and committed are ideal for this role.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.
Minimum Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, and/or Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Education, or related field; three (3) years of related work experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Cultural Competence: Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and sensitivity to and understanding of diverse communities.
Preferred Education, Experience, and/or Skills:
  • Education- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion specific certifications / memberships preferred.
  • Experience- Knowledge of adult learning theory and ability to design, develop, and deliver group training activities and materials to a vast array of individual knowledge levels.
