Our team in Space & Defense is looking for a Buyer to join them. You will report to the Supply Chain Manager and will have an onsite work schedule in Blacksburg, Virginia.

To be considered for Buyer, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor's degree, with preferred experience in a manufacturing environment. Or Associate degree, with 2 years of buying experience in a manufacturing environment.

As a Buyer, you will:

  • Source domestically and internationally the procurement of direct and indirect materials to support manufacturing needs.
  • Use organizational skills for production and material control.
  • Review MRP requirements and inventory on hand balances to ensure material availability. You will also use ERP computer system to manage inventory requirements.
  • Review and understand blueprints, material specifications and engineering specifications.
  • Review quote proposals and negotiate pricing based on budgetary limitations and product requirements.
  • Make sourcing decisions based on commodity prices and supplier's ability to meet technology, quality, delivery, and cost goals.
  • Accomplish a range of supply chain management tasks, including important analysis of operational sustainability needs, material planning within an ERP system.
  • Maintain internal records and system data fields for Purchasing lead times, inventory accuracy, and supplier performance data, etc.
