Job Description

Design, organize and facilitate alumni, family, and volunteer involvement in Roanoke College activities, programs, and projects for the enhancement of the mission of Roanoke College and with a focus on fundraising outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with supervisor, develop annual strategic and tactical plans that address objectives for alumni population, allowing for both broad-based umbrella programs and segmented activities.
  • Serve as project manager of the College's Class Reunion program. Lead internal Reunion Committee in developing and executing a cyclical reunion program that includes multi-year communication plan, stewardship strategies, fundraising goals, volunteer recruitment and retention and program evaluation.
  • Analyze tools and programs to engage alumni, families, and volunteers (by segment and as a whole), determine optimal mechanisms to build giving and participation rates, and implement these tools successfully.
  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of the College's anchor weekends which include Alumni & Family Weekends.
  • Serve as project manager of Young Alumni Engagement. Identify, develop, implement and evaluate strategies directed to alumni within the first ten years post-graduation that foster alumni engagement opportunities and giving participation. This shall include strategic planning for Senior Class and new graduate engagement.
  • Identify, develop and evaluate strategies to support the successful transition of engaged students to engaged alumni by fostering programs that create opportunity for students to participate in direct programming with the Office of Alumni & Family Relations as well as members of the Roanoke College Alumni Association at each year of their student experience. This shall include serving as the staff manager for the Student Alumni Ambassadors program and overall management of Senior Class engagement.
  • In coordination with the Director of Alumni & Family Relations manage the direct and indirect mail, email, telephone and social media efforts.
  • Partner with other Advancement staff members in producing alumni communications.
  • Actively promote key initiatives of the College such as a Young Associates program and ensure that alumni activities support the College's vision and strategic plan.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Roanoke Fund in developing current student's philanthropy programs, including Senior Class efforts.
  • Ensure that record keeping related to department activities are complete and timely, including event participation, volunteer involvement and management, budget, goal(s) attainments, and so forth.
  • Represent the department or division as needed. Arrange to work nights and weekends as required and to travel frequently.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor Degree required in related field
  • 1-3 years of experience working in higher education administration
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong oral and written communication
