Serves as a technical expert, plans and directs design professionals in a variety of architectural and space planning/interior design activities. Designs and stamps drawings for building interior retrofits and other architectural designs. Provides a wide range of professional support to county-owned and designated leased facilities under the department's responsibility. Support is provided to over 240 facilities encompassing over 11 million square feet of space. As a registered architect, leverages a strong technical background, excellence in design, attention to detail and quality control to perform and review reports, design drawings, specifications, schedules, and budgets for commercial building architectural/space planning/interior design projects. Ensures the timely completion of projects assigned consistent with quality standards of the Facilities Management Department (FMD) and industry standards, as well as, ensuring projects and designs are financially and operationally viable and completed in a cost-efficient manner. Works under the guidance and general direction of the Facilities Management Department Assistant Director, Design, Engineering and Construction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:(Click on the aforementioned link to learn how Fairfax County interprets equivalencies for "Any combination, experience, and training equivalent to")Graduation from a four-year college or university accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technologies with a bachelor's degree in the appropriate engineering or architectural field; plus five years of progressively responsible professional experience in the appropriate engineering field.
