POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Full-Time Pest Controller, pay rate $18.03 Hourly

ThePest Controller shall inspect, identify, prevent, treat, control or eliminate insects, organisms, rodents and wild or domestic animals to prevent health problems and the destruction of real property, vegetation, and supplies. Ensure that only approved pesticides are used in the execution of pest management. Will also maintain improved and semi-improved grounds on center.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain inventory and track on-hand pesticides; submit purchase request when additional pesticides are required.
• Responsible for mixing chemical as needed and utilize best practices when applying pesticides in effort to assist in reducing usage and not exceeding the baseline.
• Provide mosquito control throughout the breeding season to keep the mosquito population below the critical levels.
• Coordinate all larvicide operations through environmental management.
• Trap and/or remove designated species causing nuisance or damage problems using humane techniques.
• Provide annual report of nuisance wildlife control activities.
• Capture animals suspected of being rabid because of inappropriate or aggressive behavior.
• Transport all dead animals on the installation and dispose of them in cooperation with Natural Resources, Security Forces, veterinarian, and public health.
• Maintain log of dead animals removed.
• Remove poisonous snakes from the base. Non-poisonous snakes shall be relocated to areas on base more suitable to their existence.
• Maintain records of inspections and repairs and recurring maintenance.
• Will maintain improved and semi-improved grounds by mowing lawns, trimming, edging, cleaning flower beds and other grounds by hand while utilizing proper tools and equipment.
• Carry out a varied range of gardening duties and hand tools, horticultural machinery and power tools such as lawn mowers, string trimmers and hedge cutters.
• Removes unsightly trash and debris from the grounds by regularly inspecting the grounds, remove snow and ice from walkways by using salt spreaders, shovels, shovels, tractors, and snow blowers.
• Comfortable working in all weather and seasons.
• Will maintain improved and semi-improved grounds.
• Other duties as assigned by immediate Supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

* Must be a US Citizen.
* Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background investigation thru Verified First and a NASA background investigation.
* At least two years of experience in pest control services, maintain pest control license
* Valid driver's license.
* Must have the ability to perform physical labor to include lifting and carrying a maximum of 50 lbs.
* Storm support required.
