Key Role:
Leverage expertise and instruction to train audiences on the Indo-Pacific operational environment. Inform plans, exercises, operations, and engagements. Share understanding of the East Asia region countries' strategies, capabilities, and actions. Advise team and clients on cultural and language considerations and approaches to working with the host nation military, government officials, and non-governmental entities to achieve mutual goals. Contribute to distance learning modules and in-person training content. Develop and maintain course content and practical exercises based on current threat environments, military domains, and joint, interagency, intergovernmental, and multinational (JIIM) capabilities. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of course instruction.

Basic Qualifications:

• 12+ years of experience with East Asia through defense, intelligence, academic, legislative, or commercial areas
• Experience in research, analysis, or instruction of East Asian nations' military capabilities
• Experience living, working, or studying in East Asia
• Ability to speak, read, and write in one or more East Asian languages
• Ability to travel up to 50% of time
• Secret clearance
• Bachelor's degree

Additional Qualifications:

• Experience as an instructor or teacher
• Experience with training or academic coursework focused on East Asian studies, military history, international relations, or deterrence
• Experience as an East Asia Foreign Area Officer (FAO)
• Experience at a Geographic Combatant Command or service component command headquarters, particularly within USINDOPACOM
• Experience with developing written publications focusing on East Asian regional security issues
• Experience with combat
• Possession of excellent briefing and public speaking skills, including communicating confidently with general officers, flag officers, or senior executives through formal presentations and impromptu office calls
• Master's degree preferred; Doctorate degree a plus
