The ETL Developer - Staff position will be responsible for developing and producing ETL/ELT (Extract Transform Load/Extract Load Transform) extracts from Epic and other critical business systems. This role will need to work with members of Enterprise Analytics, VCUH internal customers, as well as third party vendors to gather requirements, develop extracts, validate them and move into production once complete.Essential Job Statements
- Develops and modifies data extraction, transformation, and load programs for enterprise data structures.
- Collaborates with Architects and Report Analysts in discussions that lead to design specifications and functionality.
- Provides source to target mapping development, support, and maintenance.
- Automates the ETL process through scheduling and exception-handling routines.
- Develops and executes test plans.
- Follows organization change management practices.
- Leads troubleshooting efforts and formulates interdisciplinary task force groups for ETL issues.
- Conducts reviews of emerging technology and best practices and presents findings to management and the end-user community.
- Participates in Team On-Call schedule, covering off hour processing issues.
Employment Qualifications
Required Education:
Position typically requires a Bachelor's degree with three to six years of related experience, or equivalent combination of related education and experience.
Combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Minimum Qualifications
Years and Type of Required Experience
3-5 Years of ETL, Architecture, analytics or other related experience.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Complete understanding and broad application of technical principles, theories and concepts in ETL and working knowledge of related disciplines.
- Intermediate understanding of database management languages, relational databases, change management, and testing processes with a fundamental understanding of client-server architecture.
- Experience with Microsoft SSIS or at least one contemporary data transformation tool with the ability to create ETL/ELT packages.
- Ability to read and understand various data structures.
- Ability to create conceptual, business, and technical documentation.
- Strong knowledge of advanced error handling processes and procedures.
- Basic knowledge of Data Warehouse concepts and design.
- General understanding of the interactions between all reporting, scheduling, and data movement applications with the ability to collaborate on design and development efforts with Architects and Report Analysts.
