Job Description:
SUMMARY
R&D laboratory position that handles routine, non-complex tasks which are repetitive and short in duration. Understanding is narrow in scope. Works under close supervision, on a day to day basis. Learns and uses instruments and test equipment to make simple quantitative and qualitative analysis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
70% Perform routine specific activities in accordance with established laboratory practices and procedures. These could include:
Standardized routine laboratory tests and analyses
Sample preparation using standard SGI methods
Assisting in operation of lab pilot equipment, to carry out simple and repetitive work
10% Perform data entry of work and results that can be used by others to determine progress
20% Perform other duties as assigned

High School Diploma or GED with interest and aptitude in material laboratory science

Travel requirements: Primarily local up to 5%
Working conditions: Primarily industrial R&D laboratory and office setting, requiring eye, hearing, hand, foot, and respiratory PPE. Occasional duties at manufacturing locations may be performed in enclosed facilities and/or outdoor areas where extremes of heat, cold, dust, noise, wet conditions and rough terrain exist
Physical requirements: Computer, MSHA / OSHA, lifting objects up to 40 lbs., extended or irregular hours, bending, kneeling, stooping
