About the Position

Position Description

Do you have a passion for helping others? Are you interested in the dynamic field of organ donation and transplantation? We are seeking a patient safety or clinical quality professional to join our team of nurses and social workers. Join us as we travel throughout the country to transplant hospitals and organ procurement organizations conducting compliance reviews and educating the transplant community. The Site Surveyor's primary responsibilities include monitoring, verifying, and evaluating member compliance with OPTN/UNOS Bylaws and Policies. The Site Surveyor will contact member hospitals, schedule surveys, review prior history and sample records, and then travel onsite to conduct the review.

Key Responsibilities:

* Plan and conduct onsite and desk chart reviews of member organizations to monitor, track and report on compliance with established OPTN Obligations.

* Design, develop and deliver member education presentations.

* Review, analyze and document results of each survey.

* Prepare survey reports summarizing potential policy violations/other findings and recommendations for members and/or the OPTN Membership and Professional Standards Committee (MPSC) as determined by findings.

* Evaluate findings and analyze for potential policy violations, educate members, and prepare documentation consistent with confidential medical peer review requirements.

* Review corrective action plans for thoroughness and effectiveness in assisting members to comply with OPTN Obligations.

* Assist during the investigation of special cases involving allegations of non-compliance with OPTN Obligations and/or issues that pose an imminent threat to public health and patient safety.

* Participate in team and department-wide process improvement projects.

* Review and analyze past member survey results and other potential policy violations referred to the MPSC.

* Assist in the design and development of an audit plan, which includes, but is not limited to, interviews and a comprehensive medical record review.

* Apply basic investigative techniques during on-site investigations, including interviews and medical record reviews.

* Review, analyze and document results of the interviews and medical record review.

* Assist in the preparation of initial and final reports and recommendations for members, UNOS Committees and/or HRSA as appropriate.

* Prepare and present documentation to HRSA as appropriate.

Minimum Requirements

2 years of nursing, patient safety, clinical quality assurance or other related experience

Critical Skills

* Working knowledge of all pertinent medical terminology.

* Experience in conducting medical record reviews and analyses.

* Working knowledge of principles and technical methodology of auditing, utilization review, quality assurance, and patient safety strongly preferred.

* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills required.

* Self directed, detail oriented professional with excellent organizational skills required.

* Superb oral and written communication skills, including public speaking skills.

* Multi-task and produce a quality work product under stress and demanding deadlines required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

* Clinical experience in transplantation preferred.

* Conduct basic investigations preferred.

* Participation in unit's quality council or peer review committee preferred.

* Creatively problem solve and proactively adapt work processes to proactively address imminent issues required.

* Focus on customer service to continually enhance member satisfaction.

* Effectively contribute and collaborate with other Member Quality and UNOS staff on group projects.

* Strong interpersonal skills for interaction with all levels of UNOS management and the medical community.

* Microsoft Office suite proficiency required.

* Experience working with the Salesforce and SharePoint platforms preferred.

Education

4-year degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or other related field of study, or equivalent work experience. Active, unrestricted RN or BSN preferred.

Physical Requirements

* General office demands

* Some overnight travel within the US required
