* Develop and maintain trauma quality improvement plan
* Develop, review/revise trauma policies, procedures, and protocols
* Participate in PEMS & JCC EMS councils
* Provide feedback to top three referring facilities or those identified by the trauma service
* Review all transfers, identify PI issues. and follow up with EMS agency and referring hospital
* Provide trauma registry education to EMS agencies and referring hospitals
* Participates in the statewide Trauma quality improvement committee
* Review state recommended and ACS audit filters
* Submit data to Virginia Statewide registry, National trauma database and TQIP
* Reviews all deaths and participate in monthly morbidity and mortality rounds. Maintain spreadsheet and documentation of survival probability.
* Participates in weekly trauma quality improvement team meetings
* Provide trauma registry data to be used for research purposes
* Develop and maintain a trauma PI issue log to document process and follow-up
* Monitor volume and team activation
* Monitor for compliance with attending MD response time
* Evaluate all over triage and under triage cases against set activation criteria
* Evaluate ACS filters, submit report and identify PI opportunities
* Maintain complications list and report quarterly to trauma attending and trauma quality committees
* Coordinate and report findings of follow up phone calls to discharged patients
* Reviews trauma registry data for accuracy
* Communicates quality issues to nursing and ancillary staff as indicated
* Create teams to focus on identified quality improvement opportunities
* Reviews annual data and submit an annual report to Trauma Medical director and trauma program manage
Job Summary
The Quality Improvement Coordinator is responsible for providing project management and facilitation, as well as, clinical oversight and support for the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement medical staff performance improvement and patient safety initiatives. This includes organizing relevant task forces, review of evidenced based literature/benchmarks, establishment of indicators for monitoring and evaluation of quality and appropriateness of care, continuous improvement, and achieving targeted goals as well as medical record review, occurrence/complaint investigation and tracking/trending medical staff performance.Qualifications:
