Overview

Ready to shape the future of science and global health? ATCC, a pioneer in biomaterials manufacturing, is seeking an onsite Laboratory Operations Supervisor based in Manassas, VA.

As a Supervisor of Laboratory Operations, you'll oversee daily activities of functional units within our laboratories, ensuring efficient operations and adherence to schedules. Utilize your expertise in scientific and technical aspects to train and provide direction to laboratory staff, resolve problems, and mitigate risks. Additionally, you'll play a key role in vendor negotiations, implementing new laboratory services, and providing valuable input to support decision-making processes.

Responsibilities
    Laboratory Staff Management and SOP Development: Direct and coordinate laboratory staff, manage inventory, and oversee cost control, waste reduction, quality, and safety. Attend and lead staff meetings, and create, develop, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and protocols.
  • Equipment Management and Procurement: Ensure effective operation of laboratory equipment, serve as the point of contact for equipment procurement and repairs, and organize vendor negotiations and product evaluations.
  • Technical Oversight and Quality Assurance: Ensure test methodologies meet quality standards and regulatory requirements, troubleshoot out-of-specification results, and provide technical input for purchasing. Develop and evaluate new assays, review custom product requests, and compile data for key performance indicators (KPIs) metrics and reports.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years' experience or equivalent.
  • Previous cell culture experience (adherent, suspension, and/or aggregate).
  • Previous experience with process development, process scale up, technology transfer and manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to direct and coordinate staff, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
