The Technical Sales Representative generates revenue by soliciting and obtaining orders; understanding and interpreting technical requirements; providing technical information and developing accounts. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Existing Business
Develop strategic plans and objectives including business forecasts for assigned accounts.
Maintain communications with existing customers, including the provision of product availability, new programs, supply and price trends, etc. Provide feedback to the B&G Organization.
New Business
Work in conjunction with Director of Operations to plan and secure new business, both in existing and new product lines.
Be proactive towards new business development; prepare reports on contacts made and other pertinent data for Director of Operations.
Quoting
Cooperate with PPD to assure timely and accurate cost estimates/ work order development by a) supplying complete info re: customer/ mat’l specifications, drawing requirements b) supplying target price levels for new product.
Maximize profitability and sales of the Company by assuring that customer orders are routed/manufactured cost effectively relative to overall Company work load.
Prepare price quotations, terms of sales, delivery dates, service obligations, etc. Assure that accurate and timely responses are provided.
Make followup contact after quoting, and report feedback to Director of Operations.
Customer Service
Provide assistance after sale regarding delivery, service, quality or other problems that arise, meeting Customer Service objectives.
Knowledge and Innovation
Maintain and update knowledge of material and fastener specifications
Make formal proposals to Director of Operations regarding methods of increasing B&G profitability
Maintain computer and spreadsheet proficiency.
Communication
Maintain professionalism through all aspects of internal communication
Promote dept and company-wide teamwork
Collaborate with all B&G depts and management to assure customer service and quality guidelines are attained. Communicates effectively with other customer, department managers, supervisors and employees to ensure timely resolution of problems and accomplishments of department and company objectives.
Associates or Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
Exceptional negotiation and time management skills
Can demonstrate high level of mechanical aptitude
Ability to communicate in a professional manner with customers
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS Mechanical Engineering degree and / or experience in a manufacturing environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Majority of time spent in office area utilizing, phone, computer and printer / fax. Time will also be spent out on the floor monitoring products being manufactured and discussing progress with Managers, Supervisors, Machinists and Inspectors.
