Job Summary:

The Clinical Coordinator, in collaboration with the Cancer Center Leadership oversees, organizes, and promotes the activities of the MWHC Cancer Program. Ensuring its alignment with the Standards of the Commission on Cancer (CoC) and National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). The Clinical Coordinator will support the mission, vision, and values of Mary Washington Healthcare and must demonstrate a commitment to quality service to our patients, physicians, and other members of the health team.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Maintains knowledge and proficiency of the Cancer Program operations within the guidelines of the Commission on Cancer and National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers standards.
  • Oversees annual goals, quality improvement initiatives, barriers to care, survivorship projects, and awareness/screening events of the Cancer Program.
  • Maintains metrics and reporting for breast care team and cancer committee for all program activities.
  • Serves in the Quality Improvement Coordinator role in accordance with the Commission on Cancer standards.
  • Collaborates with physicians, clinical teams, committees, and Cancer Center leadership to guide cancer program developments, process improvements, and other initiatives.
  • Prepares and maintains the annual accreditation standards documentation, data monitoring, and reporting, and evaluates the cancer programs' performance, including preparing cancer committee and breast program leadership meeting agendas and minutes.
  • Guides members of the cancer care team in preparing required reports for cancer committee and breast health leadership committee.
  • Organizes community cancer screenings and educational offerings to promote public awareness and prevention of cancer.
  • Facilities development of and requirements for external grants, to include creating and overseeing programs and scheduling community outreach.
  • Plans and facilities CME (Continuing medical education), cancer offerings, and Cancer Symposiums, coordinates initiatives to obtain funding as needed.
  • Leads onsite accreditation surveys. Provides oversight of accreditation, managing the standards and requirements.
  • Schedules, facilities, and oversees Clinical Team Meetings for all major tumor types.
  • Serves in the Survivorship Coordinator role in accordance with the Commission on Cancer standards.
  • Maintains professional activities to remain current with cancer treatment developments.
  • Participates in community outreach projects and assists local and national agencies in providing cancer education and services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, required.
  • Current Virginia RN licensure required.
  • Minimum of 2 years RN experience with oncology required.
  • Experience with multiple electronic systems and programs
  • Working knowledge of Commission on Cancer and National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers regulatory requirements.
