About the Job

Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting for a Senior Financial Planner. The Senior Financial Planner is responsible for preparing financial plans and managing the planning process. In addition, the Senior Financial Planner will provide support to the Director of Financial Planning by executing specific tasks related to comprehensive financial planning, and developing additional work product, as required.

MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Financial Planning Preparation and Development

Develop financial plans from start to finish under the supervision of the Director of Financial Planning. Collect, validate, and analyze financial data. Input data into financial planning software and develop initial planning recommendations. Conduct plan presentation meetings with clients either in person or use of video technology. Be a subject matter expert in a full range of financial planning areas, including cash flow management, debt management, retirement planning, estate plan review, business succession planning, insurance/risk management, employee benefits review, tax analysis, investment management and education planning.

  1. Sales and Client Support

Provide support to Business Development, Portfolio Managers and Trust Officers in the acquisition and retention of client relationships. Responsible for conducting regular plan reviews with financial planning clients. Coordinate meetings and presentations with SST Team.

  1. Marketing and Special Projects:

May conduct seminars for internal and external partners, and Centers of Influence. Provide input to the evolution of the Financial Planning Offering. Complete special projects as assigned.


Required Skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Finance, Accounting, Business or Economics preferred. Possession of the Certified Financial PlannerTM Designation, CFP, in good standing. LLM is a plus.
  • 5 or more years' experience as a financial planner working with High-Net-Worth Clients and Business Owners.
  • Strong attention to detail and a strong aptitude for learning.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required; problems are technically complex and require the collection, interpretation, and analysis of data from diverse sources.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, MoneyGuide, and Wealth Studio,
  • Strong commitment to client service.
  • Personal integrity and ability to discreetly handle confidential data.

SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area. Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements.

Work includes little or no potential exposure to hazardous conditions.

Must be able to travel to remote company and/or client locations.
