Who we are looking for:

Join ASCO as the Senior Director, Global Marketing, Communications & Program Strategy, where you will have the opportunity to shape and lead implementation of marketing and communications strategies aligned with the Society's Strategic Plan and department goals. Lead a dynamic team in driving the organization's global outreach and impact, and contribute to the advancement of cancer care worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee comprehensive marketing and communications strategy and execution to support ASCO's goals and flagship programs, which include meetings & symposia, publications and scientific journals, education/professional development, clinical research, quality care and practice support and more.
  • Lead a team of marketing and communications professionals within the Integrated Communications and Marketing Department (ICM) to operate successfully in a matrixed environment to set goals, outline priorities, create supporting strategy and action plans, and define and measure key performance indicators for each of ASCO's flagship programs.
  • Implement a client-service model to ensure consistency, customization, and outstanding quality deliverables for ASCO flagship programs.
  • Oversee the development of omni-channel campaigns that include search engine optimization, pay per click, public relations, social media, stakeholder engagement, etc., and support business objectives, increase member engagement, and drive uptake and usage of ASCO products and services.
  • Leverage data and insights to understand the needs, attitudes, and decision-making journeys of each audience segment; develop, execute, and measure corresponding strategies, plans, and executions.
  • Develop and manage the annual marketing & communications strategic planning and budgeting processes to ensure prioritized support for ASCO flagship programs including budget performance and management to demonstrate ROI.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of global marketing and oncology trends and issues and ensure that ASCO's approach and materials reflect them.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, journalism, communications, or related field
  • 12-15 years of professional experience in marketing and communications
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment
  • 7-10 years of proven leadership experience in a senior communications role, driving marketing and content strategies and managing multi-faceted implementation teams

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Familiarity/experience in an academic and/or healthcare setting
  • Master's Degree in Communications, English, Journalism or related field or post-Bachelor's professional certificate in PR, Integrated MarCom, etc.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, perform under pressure, and pay close attention to detail while staying focused on the big picture
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to meet deadlines consistently, deliver high-quality work and proactively communicate progress
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and planning skills with ability to think creatively and problem solve
  • Agile with ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and new initiatives, and manage ambiguous situations
  • Data-driven approach to marketing and communications strategy development
  • Outstanding content development communication skills with ability to clearly receive and convey information
