Fireworks by Grucci – Director of Operations

Fireworks by Grucci is a sixth generation, eleven-time World Record breaking international fireworks entertainment company that has been lighting up the skies since 1850. We have performed firework displays, for many of the world’s notable events such as; Olympics, Presidential Inaugurals; and concerts such as EDC. Located on the Radford Army Ammunition Plant for over twenty-five years, we also partner with the Department of Defense through our sister company Pyrotechnique by Grucci. Not only do we create wonderment in the sky with our precision pyrotechnic performances, but we also support our troops through the manufacturing and distribution of a range of munitions and simulations.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

1.Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, or other relevant field, preferred.
2.Minimum five (5) years of progressive management roles, within the fireworks, pyrotechnics or entertainment industry, preferred.
3.Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or 5 years of experience in an industrial environment managing projects/programs.
4.Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred or able to achieve certification within one year of employment.
5.Experience using AutoCAD preferred.
6.Must be able to receive clearance from Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (BATFE).
7.Must possess a valid state driver's license.
8.Be able to read, speak, and understand English language.
9.Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
10.Demonstrated leadership and team building skills, inspiring teams to high levels of performance and engagement.
11.Practical knowledge of health, safety and environmental standards, procedures, and regulations including those specific to manufacturing processing and safety.
12.Skilled relationship manager and consensus builder able to overcome objections, work collaboratively, establish credibility through action and earn the trust and respect of employees, customers, suppliers, and senior management.
13.Proven ability to structure, implement, develop and integrate operational procedures and processes which are best practice, scalable and consistently applied to achieve a profitable, cost efficient, customer focused and highly effective production facility.
14.Proven success in managing through periods of business transformation and growth, driving process and cost structure optimization and organizational change initiatives.
15.Availability and willingness to work select evenings and some weekends as/if needed to meet seasonal management demands.

JOB DUTIES:

1.Manage subordinate department heads in Crew Scheduling and Services, Permitting and Compliance, Show Production and Design.
2.Oversee the creation of necessary documents for the safe and successful installation of fireworks displays, including: equipment lists, plant requirements, schematics of equipment install, production plans and resource lists, including vendor requirements such as, scaffolding companies, rigging companies, etc.
3.Oversee the creation of resource lists for upcoming projects.
4.Manage the creation of production itineraries.
5.Work with our Factory Fireworks Logistics and Production Director to create production schedules for packing, labeling and manufacturing the product to support firework displays.
6.Generate and manage a yearly budget.
7.Generate Purchase Orders and review and approve invoices from vendors.
8.Oversee maintenance of asset inventories worldwide such as in New York, Virgina, UAE-Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Bahamas
9.Manage Training and continuous improvement initiatives and participate in the Grucci training seminars.
10.Troubleshooting complex problems that arise in the field.
11.Perform risk assessments and manage the formation of structural studies from third party engineers.
12.Participate in Business Development in generating Operational Budgets for prospective display opportunities including the assistance in preparing proposals.
13. Overall Operational responsibility for the management and operations of Fireworks by Grucci (FBG). Three primary facilities are (FbG) New York, Virginia and Dubai.
14. Work closely with Pyrotechnique by Grucci’s (PBG) Fireworks department regarding fireworks production and inventory.
15. Continuously review, create, refine and make recommendations to enhance standards, processes and procedures to streamline operations, reduce cost structures, improve productivity and optimize profitability.
16. Provide leadership and set clear goals and expectations for supervisors and employees aligned with corporate goals and business needs. Ensure compliance with company policies and rules of conduct and address performance and discipline issues appropriately.
17. Lead the development of operational budgets. Closely monitor expenditures and evaluate job costing results to ensure within budget parameters. Conduct regular budget review meetings with operating departments, communicating meeting results to the CEO and CFO.
18. Make recommendations for the strategic investment in fireworks equipment, software, and other capital expenditures to ensure the relevance, competitiveness, and capacity to meet future business needs. Provide the CEO with supporting cost estimates, benefit, risk and return analysis.
19. Manage the principal liaison with all state and federal regulatory agencies such as BATFE. Ensure required permits are up to date, available on site and reporting and record keeping are compliant.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
2. Must be able to move throughout the facilities and display sites for 8-12 hours per day.
