Overview

84 Lumber Components is seeking for a detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Truss Design Trainee. This entry level position is ideal for recent graduates with a background in CAD drafting or Architectural Technologies related field. As a Truss Design Trainee, you will have the opportunity to receive hands-on training and develop the necessary skills to start a building components design career.

Training and Development:

Participate in an intensive training program to acquire a comprehensive understanding of truss design principles, industry standards, and proprietary design software (MiTek)

Collaborate with experienced professionals to enhance your technical skills and gain practical knowledge in structural engineering.

Truss Design:

Assist in the creation and analysis of truss designs for residential and commercial projects.

Work with design software and tools to develop accurate and efficient truss configurations.

Collaboration:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, engineers, and project managers, to ensure the integration of truss designs into overall project plans.

Communicate effectively with team members to gather project requirements and provide design solutions.

Quality Assurance:

Conduct thorough reviews of truss designs to ensure compliance with building codes, industry standards, and project specifications.

Implement quality control measures to produce accurate and reliable designs.

Skills: Basic understanding of structural analysis, proficiency in relevant design software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.), strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.

Experience: Entry-level position; no prior experience required.

Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm


Responsibilities

Reading architectural prints to create truss placement layouts

Design rood and floor trusses in engineering software

Other design support related tasks


Qualifications

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; effectively present information to others one-on-one.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
