The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow is Responsible for initiating and carrying out research projects in collaboration with a research team. Pursuits research along a focused line of inquiry and has a manuscript in development.
This position supports neuroscience research activities in Department of Anatomy, Physiology & Genetics. The position is in the McCabe Lab at Uniformed Services University, where the focus in on preclinical modeling of traumatic brain injury in mice. The position is supported by a Department of Defense project to examine the role of neurotransmitter systems (particularly monoamine systems and the acetylcholinergic system) after traumatic brain injury in conjunction with neurodegenerative disease. In addition, the project employs a candidate compound that may ameliorate symptoms from TBI and aging.
Note: This work site requires that non-US Citizen incumbents have lived in the US three out of the past five years.
