As the Electrical Gradate Engineer here's the work you'll do:
  • Create and edit plans and BIM models.
  • Perform lighting and other engineering calculations; prepare cost estimates
  • Select equipment and create schedules, diagrams, and details
  • Support construction phase contract administration activities such as submittal review, answering RFI's, etc.
  • Edit and check specifications and basis of design documents
  • Perform additional tasks as required; Limited travel may be required
  • Complying with data protection principles while handling personal, protected and / or Covered Defense Information on behalf of Day & Zimmermann. Data Handlers should be trained to follow documented policies, standard operating procedures and secure practices associated with protecting trusted employee and customer data
This role is for you if you have these skills:
  • Proficiency with drawing production software (primarily Revit, AutoCAD and/or Microstation proficiency may also be required). Improving Revit skills including learning to edit Revit families to match project specific requirements, putting devices in the model, and adding lights and receptacles to the model and circuiting them to panelboards. Learning to complete lighting designs including fixture selection, creating a fixture schedule, designing lighting controls, and using lighting design software (Visual, ElumTools) to determine normal and emergency light fixture locations with minimal support. Learning to complete audio/visual and telecommunication distribution designs for telecom and equipment rooms including cable tray, rack/cabinet layout, backbone and horizontal cabling including cable tray/conduit fill and drop calculations. Learning and developing knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), ASHRAE 90.1 and other energy codes, Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual (TDMM), and client design criteria (UFCs, OBO Design Standards, GSA). Learning to edit specifications and create and edit logical and understandable notes on plans to meet project scope requirements. Learning to use engineering calculations spreadsheets and SKM Power*Tools to model and perform fault calculations.
  • Gaining understanding of the industry and developing the ability to complete tasks successfully and with progressively less guidance. Gaining mastery over production processes, and design and calculations tools is essential. Developing competency in selecting equipment and skill with system layout/design as they are exposed on a project by project basis. Growing responsibilities include design coordination and constructability as well as gaining introduction to project costs and participating in coordination of work with other disciplines.
  • Building trusted relationships within the department through maintaining ownership for assigned work and delivering efficient and high-quality results. Expected to be a proactive learner; able to identify expectations, check own work output against quality expectations, and pursue opportunities to grow technical capabilities. Expected to maintain professional humility and respect in partnership with all team members in pursuit of overall project success and expected to know their own technical limitations and proactively seek out support where needed.
  • Interpersonal savvy and willingness/ability to communicate effectively (oral and writing) with and take direction from others
  • Data privacy, information security and policy compliance.
And if you have these qualifications:
  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology; Degree must be ABET accredited, or acceptable to the State Board of Engineers for licensure as a professional engineer
  • 0 - 4 years experience
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) preferred; Expected to pass FE exam within 12 months of hiring/promotion
  • Ability to obtain professional engineering license.
  • US citizenship required; ability to obtain a security clearance preferred

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $63,840-$95,760 This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
