We specialize in the clinical care and scientific study of neurological diseases that interfere with cognition and behavior. Areas of emphasis include age-related memory impairments and dementias. Our three interacting missions are to investigate the causes and clinical characteristics of neurodegenerative diseases, to ensure that our patients are the beneficiaries of the latest advances, and to explore the neural foundations of behavior and cognition in health and disease.

This position will recruit diverse participants to enroll into clinical trials at the Mesulam Center, primarily the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) study. The major areas of responsibility include: serving as a bridge between the community and the study team; cultivating trust and engagement with community members and organizations; and enrolling participants into clinical studies. This will be achieved by community-based recruitment; active and ongoing community engagement; liaising with community-based organizations (CBOs), and community members; conduct in-person and digital-based eligibility screenings; and facilitate the referral process with a smooth transition to study coordinators.

This position will coordinate and facilitate regular screening and educational events at CBOs and/or in the community at large to promote recruitment and simultaneously provide a valuable service for our CBO partners and communities. This position will assist the Mesulam Center Outreach, Recruitment, and Engagement (ORE) Core in ongoing, responsive, and sustainable community-based research recruitment efforts. These activities will include dedicating regular weekly hours at our CBO partner sites for recruitment, retention, and to liaise with CBO staff; coordinating recruitment and retention activities with study project manager, and study coordinators; participating in weekly research meetings with all study staff; facilitating the development and dissemination of promotional study materials; and developing weekly reports on recruitment/retention activities.

The primary objective of the position is to enroll people from Underrepresented Populations (URPs) into the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) study and other Mesulam Center studies. In addition, this individual will help with: 1) increasing the inclusion and engagement of diverse populations in cognitive aging and dementia research; 2) investigating health inequities and related mechanisms in cognitive aging and dementia; and 3) cultivating a diverse, culturally competent workforce to work with diverse populations.
