Maternal Fetal Sonography Specialty

Inova Health System's Fairfax Hospital is looking for a Maternal Fetal Sonography Specialty to join our Antenatal Testing Center. This role is full-time, M-F. Sign-on Bonus & Relocation available for those eligible.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of maternal fetal ultrasound principles and theory as they pertain to the specialized area.
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of specialized fetal anatomy, pathology and physiology as well as the systemic effect of other systems Utilizes fetal anatomical knowledge to position patients to optimize image quality during examination while still providing for patient comfort and safety.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills as well as the ability to enhance the procedure with additional modalities and views based on identified disease processes and fetal anomalies Independently utilizes analytical abilities to determine the selection of images that are presented to the physician for interpretation.
  • Demonstrates the ability to accurately measure maternal fetal area structures and pathology to further determine the direction of the exam and identify fetal anomalies.
  • Provides clinical services according to specialized maternal fetal ultrasound practice standards to detect fetal anomalies and acts as a resource to students, nurses, fellows and other technologists, to ensure optimal department functions.
  • Accurately obtain and evaluate color flow and Doppler waveforms using this information to determine if further evaluation is needed.
  • Records all data, images and technical notes that provide the preliminary report to facilitate the physician's ability to interpret the information.
  • Correctly identifies patients and their files ensuring a high degree of accuracy, as evidenced by the lack of mislabeled films and files.
  • Tracks patients according to department procedures. Identifies errors and takes immediate action for corrections.

Requirements:

  • Work schedule: full-time, M-F
  • Location: Inova Fairfax Hospital - Antenatal Testing Center
  • Education: Graduate of accredited school/program of radiography
  • Experience: Prior experience as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist and/or Computed Tomography Technologist in a hospital/healthcare environment
  • Certification: BLS; CPR; Must be certified by ARRT as a Radiologic Technologist; Must obtain CT Certification within one year of hire into position
