Job Summary

We are seeking Bridge Designers to join TYLin's Bridge Sector. Our Mid-Atlantic offices are seeking Bridge Designers for projects including conceptual planning, through design, construction, and completion. The role of Bridge Designer will be to work with team members of large bridge projects and alternative delivery. You will assist or lead the design of assigned task of bridge projects to ensure reliability, resource efficiency, quality deliverables and cost-effectiveness. The position involves leading the development of bridge 3D modeling, bridge design, and design services during construction. You may provide supervision and guidance to a group of employees, assigning tasks, checking work at frequent intervals for accuracy and completeness; and maintaining budgets and schedules. You will support proposal efforts to expand our project base in the Mid-Atlantic market.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Perform structural analysis and prepare design calculations.
  • Develop or assist in developing structural details and construction plans.
  • Prepare geometric / bridge layouts, construction specifications, and material quantity calculations.
  • Strong technical and communication skills with a commitment to quality.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO standards preferred.
  • Computer skills desired include Bridge Design Software, Microsoft Office, Computer Aided Drafting (Microstation preferred).
  • Successfully interface with staff from a range of other disciplines (highway, traffic, civil, planning, etc.) to support a diverse range of projects.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDING EDUCATION and/or JOB EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on bridges or structures from an ABET Accredited University.
  • 4-10 years of bridge design experience.
  • PE license, or the ability to obtain one within one year is preferred.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO design and standards preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written and presentation skills.
  • Client focused, always striving to give clients the best solutions.
  • High levels of integrity, always doing the right thing in an ethical, fair, and sustainable way.
  • Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team, working together toward technical excellence.
