Job Description

The Translational Biology, Medicine, and Health (TBMH) graduate program is a unique interdisciplinary, research-intensive graduate program with students participating in labs in Blacksburg and Roanoke Virginia, and Washington D.C. With over 70 participating faculty, spanning over 8 different colleges and institutes, the TBMH program is seeking a program coordinator who is committed to the successful academic progress of our students, and support faculty as they train student- researchers.

A competitive candidate will have prior higher education experience working with students towards the completion of a degree. Responsibilities include submission and verification of student milestones such as plans of study, preliminary exams, and dissertations defense; schedule of classes, classes, and remote learning set up; management of learning management systems such as Canvas, Banner, Zoom, etc; purchasing and processing of supplies, orders, and reimbursements; and supporting TBMH teaching faculty with grade calculations, grade entries, and evaluations surveys.

The TBMH Program coordinator will also work in partnership with the TBMH recruitment coordinator to organize and run various recruitment and social events. They will also work closely with the program associate director and director to contribute to curriculum and daily operations of the program.

Other duties and responsibilities include participation in various support committees on either the main campus in Blacksburg, VA, or the Health Sciences & Technology campus in Roanoke, VA.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree
* Prior experience in a higher education or research environment
* Excellent communication skills to include a patient and friendly demeanor.
* Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) and web applications.
* Excellent time management and organizational skills with a self-motivated work ethic.
* Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a highly collaborative and supportive team.
* Strong attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

* Formal leadership training and content delivery
* Experience using large enterprise systems for finance, curriculum scheduling, procurement, etc.
* Experience conducting and reporting evaluation and assessment in educational research contexts.
