Job Description

The Program Support Technician serves as first point of contact for main office and/or a specific program area in the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. This position answers phones, greets, and assists students and visitors. Provides administrative support to the assigned program area as well as general administrative support to the department. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: assist faculty and students with travel arrangements; issue keys and maintain log; support faculty work on committees; assist faculty with paperwork and tracking of international visiting scholar; and place, track, and receive HokieMart and Purchasing Card orders.

Required Qualifications

Administrative support experience in an academic or professional office environment; proficiency with Microsoft Office suite; ability to work independently; strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Considerable experience in an academic office environment or education/training in related field; knowledge of VT policies, procedures, and systems such as Hokie Mart, Banner, Chrome River, Commerce Manager, Micro Strategy Reporting, and DEPART.
