Job Description

The Pediatric Audiologist functions with the knowledge and skill of an advanced clinician who is sought out by others for advice and guidance. Provides services for the prevention, identification, diagnosis, consultation, and rehabilitation to patients with hearing and balance disorders. The audiologist is responsible for administering diagnostic audiology tests and rehabilitative services. Diagnostic testing may include audiological assessments, vestibular assessments, cochlear implant assessments, immittance, otoacoustic emissions, and evoked potentials. Rehabilitative services may include cochlear implant programming, hearing instrument recommendations, selection and fittings, and verbal/auditory therapy. Supports the clinical audiology needs of the Inova Children's Otolaryngology practice.

Job Responsibilities

  • Completes full diagnostic hearing assessments using the appropriate testing method and equipment for the patient type, diagnosis, and reason for referral.
  • Formulates and/or implements a treatment plan to address deficits and patient/family areas of concern.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, family, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors and outside contacts.
  • Demonstrates advanced communication skills necessary for effective problem-solving, and conflict resolution and facilitates group interactions to achieve desired outcomes as evidenced by team feedback and observation.
  • Demonstrates advanced clinical expertise in patient evaluation treatment and documentation.
  • Functions with the knowledge and skill of an advanced clinician who is sought out by others for advice and guidance.
  • Collaborates with the patient and/or family whenever possible to set treatment priorities and select activities that maximize participation in the treatment process as evidenced by feedback and observation.
  • Demonstrates creativity, diversity, and resourcefulness to gain patient involvement, to accommodate special circumstances or needs of the patient or adapt the treatment environment to optimize patient responses evidenced by team feedback and observation.
  • Independently problem solves and communicates results as evidenced by observation.
  • Routinely makes optimal use on non-treatment time to work on projects or assist others as evidenced by productivity and progress toward goals.



Requirements:

Certification - Certificate of Clinical Competency in Audiology (CCC-A)

Experience - 5 years

Education - Doctoral degree in Audiology (AuD) or prior to January 1, 2008 a Master's in Audiology from an accredited institution
