The Coordinator / Athletics Human Resources will assist with staffing and transactional HR activities within the Athletics Department. Primary HR tasks will consist of confirming work eligibility; HR Banner entries; I-9 processing; PageUp entry and assistance; Manage Wage Payroll, TimeClock, and overtime; Leave management; HR file management; other administrative tasks as needed. The Coordinator will also support employee recruitment and advertising by posting positions; communicate with candidates, search committee members and key stakeholders; coordinate recruitment documentation; collect required search committee materials and follow-up documentation. Coordinate onboarding and separation procedures including department orientations, welcome packages, newsletters, onboarding partner activities, and separation checklists and surveys. Participate in the planning and implementation of employee fellowship events. Will assist the Assistant AD in completing transactional paperwork related to employee activities (i.e., appointment renewals, employee evaluations, compensation, bonuses, etc.), HR reports, track HR projects and activities. The position reports to the Executive Associate AD / Strategic Affairs and the Assistant AD / Human Resources.

Required Qualifications

Experience in a professional office environment.
Experience with tasks which require a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Demonstrated experience working with confidential and sensitive information.
Commitment to diversity.
Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly in a professional and courteous manner as well as interact respectfully and comfortably with all individuals in a diverse, multicultural environment.
Ability to compose, edit and prepare high quality, professional written communications.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree.
Human Resource experience in a public University.
Knowledge of applicant tracking system such as PageUp or similar system.
Experience with relational databases such as Banner or similar.
Working knowledge of Virginia Tech or state Human Resources policies and procedures.

Additional Information

This is a part-time wage position.
The ideal candidate will be able to work on-site up to 29 hours per week, five days a week from Monday through Friday.
