Job Description
Clinch Valley Medical Center
Description
Operates the facility phone system to relay incoming, outgoing and interoffice calls. Responsible for efficiently answering, screening and routing incoming calls.
Essential Functions:
  1. Answer incoming calls in a timely and professional manner
  2. Assist the public in a professional manner
  3. Overhead page
  4. Responsible for overhead paging the codes and the procedure(s) to follow once code is called (notifying key individuals and documenting type of code on log sheet)
  5. Maintain communication with Engineering when alarm(s) triggers or equipment malfunctions
  6. Maintain communications with Security to promote a more secure facility
  7. Maintain on-call schedules for use; Physician & Hospital Department specific
  8. Maintain beeper list and beeps physician and/or personnel accordingly
  9. Demonstrates knowledge of occurrence reporting system and utilizes system to report potential patient safety issues
  10. Attends department meetings, education sessions and hospital specific training programs
  11. Practices and adheres to the "Code of Conduct" philosophy and Mission and Value statement of the Hospital
  12. Supplies appropriate information to callers regarding patients within facility and HIPAA guidelines
  13. Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
