The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.

The Acquisition and Technology Analysis Group within JOID specializes in the application of multi-disciplinary analytic skills to support multiple clients within the Department of Defense (DoD). These clients include the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (OUSD(A&S)), DARPA, the Joint Staff, and USINDOPACOM. SPA provides critical decision support to enabling and executing a strategy of technological superiority and enabling the delivery and sustainment of secure, resilient, and preeminent capabilities to the warfighter quickly and cost effectively. Our team of experienced military, technical, and operations research analysts is skilled in evaluating military problems, identifying the driving factors, devising innovative approaches, collecting applicable data, developing necessary software tools, and performing thorough and timely assessments to inform technology and acquisition governance decisions to ensure U.S. military forces retain military superiority in the future.

We have an immediate need for a Joint Integrated Air and Missile Defense Analyst to assist the J-8 JIAMDO directorate with Space domain modeling and simulation. This role is onsite in Arlington, VA.

Responsibilities

Apply experience and knowledge of the space warfare domain to joint modeling and simulation experimentation events designed to inform Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) requirements and employment concepts. The candidate will be part of a core event planning and execution team working closely with software and data engineers, Combatant Command representatives, the services, military and government advisors, and other contractors to integrate space systems, capabilities, and tactical operations into an existing operator-led modeling and simulation environment. Duties will include all phases of the event cycle to include shaping event objectives, integrating space domain operations into tactical scenarios, assisting with integration testing to assess technical readiness, event execution, and analysis and reporting. Will coordinate directly with USSF, the Services, and other agencies as required to identify emerging systems, capabilities, and concepts for future integration into the simulation environment.

Qualifications

Required:

    Bachelor's Degree and 15+ years of relevant experience.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Prior Space Weapons Officer with significant knowledge of military use of terrestrial and on-orbit space systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of IAMD kill-chains and experience with integrating space capabilities into joint kinetic and non-kinetic operations.
  • Ability to analyze terrestrial warfighter scenarios and provide detailed insight into how and where space systems are used and can be added for warfighter support.

Desired:

  • Experience with modeling and simulation events; particularly with operators-in-the-loop.
  • Knowledge of Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) standards and Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM) modeling.
  • Master's Degree in relevant discipline.
  • USAF Weapons School graduate.
