Job Description

The Utility Field Services Technician position is a great opportunity to be a part of the commercial construction industry in the Washington DC Metro area.  Insight provides a full range of utility services in support of commercial construction in the Washington Metro area. We are looking for detail oriented and goal focused individuals to join our team of creative problem solvers supporting and helping our clients meet project objectives safely and efficiently. You will be trained to perform the role, we promote from within and will train you to become an Equipment Operator/Crew Lead. Job Requirements:

  • Properly operate and maintain vacuum truck, air compressor, and heavy power tools such as a jackhammer, tamper, cut-off saw, and air lance
  • Locate underground utilities using air vacuum excavation
  • Document utility found, indicating depth, material and condition
  • Able to drive a manual transmission medium duty truck
  • Able to obtain and pass a DOT physical and drug test
  • Able to pass a background check
  • Able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Able to read a map/follow GPS
  • Able to wear PPE for extended periods of time
  • Perform a proper pre-trip and post-trip inspection daily
  • Good driving record
  • Professionally represent and communicate on behalf of the company and crew when encountering customers or residents in the field.
  • Willing to work nights, overtime or out-of-town, if needed
  • Commitment to perform duties safely and in the manner instructed by superiors
  • Other tasks as directed

*Safety-sensitive positions may include working in/around high-traffic work zones, heights greater than 6 feet, and around open excavations, as well as other hazards associated with construction and underground utility work.
