Position Summary:

Sovah Martinsville is seeking a full-time Radiology Tech to perform various imaging procedures in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
  • Responsible for turning on x-ray equipment, PACS, and making sure patient rooms are ready for clinic.
  • When ordered, prepares and administers medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Assists physician with injection/aspiration with prep and handling of supplies and disposing of contaminated materials.
  • Assists physician with cast/ dressing with proper disposal of contaminated materials.
  • Assists physician in removal of sutures/staples/bandages and disposal.
  • Be aware of physician orders for braces and specific instruction.
  • Fitts braces and splints as directed by physician.
  • Properly marks x-ray charges on encounter form.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.

  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results.
  • Observes Radiology Safety Guidelines.
  • Stocks patient rooms with gowns/scripts/orders.
  • Purges x-ray films as necessary-disposing of film in film barrels.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
  • Graduate of an accredited educational program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Must maintain required CE credits. Required: (AART) American Registry of Radiologic Technologist.
  • Must maintain Virginia State License.

Required Skills:
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Proficient in diagnostic exams.
  • Knowledge of all diagnostic radiological equipment.
  • Computer skills desired.
  • Flexibility in adapting to changing work demands and priorities.
Required Certifications/Licenses:
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Virginia State License.
Minimum Work Experience:
  • Previous clinical experience in Diagnostic Radiology desired.
