Job Description

The Teaching and Learning Project Manager in the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) will work with the directors and campus partners to provide professional program management including planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality programs and events to support the teaching and learning mission of Virginia Tech.

The project manager's responsibilities will include: (a) providing professional event management, and communication, and evaluation of instructional events, workshops, and seminars; (b) serving as the primary conference manager of the Conference on Higher Education Pedagogy inclusive of proposal management and peer review; (c) managing and supporting teacher recognition programs for CETL and faculty teaching societies; (d) managing communication of events and awards with various internal and external stakeholders; (e) managing the Thank-a-Teacher program; (f) reporting assessment and evaluation data for teaching and learning professional development programming; (g) providing professional event management and cross-unit communication for the university's annual teaching awards reception; (h) supporting the overall mission of CETL by collaborating on programs for evidence-based educational practices; (i) serving on appropriate university committees; and, function in a year-round (CY) planning and management capacity.

Required Qualifications

The required qualifications for a successful candidate for the manager position include: (a) a Bachelor's degree with related experience that is equivalent to a graduate level degree or Master's degree; (b) a demonstrated ability to manage projects and agreements and programs at the university level; (c) experience coordinating with outside vendors/event suppliers; (d) experience with communication platform(s) including professional social media and digital and email marketing platforms; (f) excellent time management and communication skills; and, (g) demonstrated ability to cooperate across a range of stakeholders to execute high-quality events.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the required qualifications, preferred qualifications for the manager position include: (a) experience working in a large organization; (b) evidence of the ability to design, advertise, manage, and evaluate large events focused on participant experience; (c) evidence of expertise in written, spoken and visual communications; (e) evidence of the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative atmosphere.
